
Katherine began working with Garden Partners part-time in February of 2008. She received her Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from Columbia College Chicago in 2001 and has worked with older adults with Alzheimer’s/dementia, teens and their infants and toddlers who were wards of the state, psychiatric patients in hospital settings, and adults in a rehabilitation facility. In addition to over 8 years of nonprofit volunteer experience and 2 years as board president of Family Outreach Center of East Dallas, in Dallas, Texas, she has 5 years of experience in business management, marketing, advertising and project coordination.
Tara began working with Garden Partners part-time in the fall of 2007, helping to plan, implement, and coordinate the overall functions of the organization. She received her Master’s in Social Work from San Francisco State University in 2001. Tara has over 10 years of experience in planning, development and coordination of programs for nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers / Big Sisters and the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
Carma comes with a background in building volunteer programs. She was the director of the Volunteer Program at Raphael House of Portland and a program manager at Big Brothers / Big Sisters. Most recently she was a program director at the Josiah Hill Clinic. She currently is the Indian Law Program Coordinator at Lewis and Clark Law School. Carma also counts Classic Wines Auction as a client, which she is helping to build a volunteer program. Carma has a Bachelor’s degree in communication and she holds a Master's degree in Public Administration. Carma is involved in the community serving on the board of Mount Hood Kiwanis Camp and she is an elder for the Red Lodge Transition Services project.
Julie joined our team in early 2006 to work on a new project at Sacred Heart Villa and the Thelma Skelton Loaves & Fishes Center, where retirement center residents and community members participate in weekly gardening activities. Julie has extensive experience as a horticultural therapy assistant and an activity director. Julie's enthusiasm and joy for her work are reflected in each activity and in her focus on participants.
Patty became a staff member in January 2008 to be available as a substitute for the other activity program specialists. With her background in elementary education, a Master's degree in counseling psychology, and her training in horticultural therapy, Patty is enjoying using all of her past experiences in her current involvement with Garden Partners. As a Metro naturalist and Master Gardener, she is committed to bringing the values of nature and gardening into her work with all ages.
Kathy joined the team in April 2008 to work on a new project with West Hills Village, where senior living residents participate in weekly garden activities. Kathy is finishing her coursework in horticultural therapy through Legacy Health System. She looks forward to applying her unique skill set, from her training as a Master Gardener, activities director and lawyer, to enrich the lives of the participants in her plant-based program activities.
Linda joined Garden Partners early in 2005 and comes to us from the Legacy Health System, where she has been volunteering for the horticultural therapy program. She is working toward her certificate in horticultural therapy. Linda has a wonderful and skilled way of interacting with our clients/residents and has brought with her many excellent ideas for program activities.
