Volunteer Support
Over the last ten years, Garden Partners has developed a multi-level volunteer program. We provide opportunities for a diverse set of community members to actively contribute to therapeutic horticulture programs for elders and at-risk children. Our volunteers offer a wide range of skills, interests, and levels of commitment. Garden Partners Volunteers are available to actively support Subscribing Partners in two ways: Volunteer Work Parties, and Program Assisting
Garden Partners’ Volunteers :
• are pre-screened
• have attended our orientation
• have specific interest in assisting with therapeutic horticulture
• are often skilled and experienced in gardening, working with elders, or both
• have agreed to have their information released for your review and contact
Volunteer Program Assistants
Garden Partners will maintain a strong pool of well skilled, motivated volunteers who are interested in assisting Therapeutic Horticulture programs. You will have access to an on-line data base of our pre-screened volunteers that can be contacted to fill your needs with garden maintenance and, or program assistance. We also will suggest volunteers that we feel would be a good fit for your program when we visit you quarterly.
Volunteer Work Parties
Arranged for your facility two times per year, Volunteer Work Parties will assist in maintaining or preparing your accessible gardening areas. Work Parties are also a great way to include the extended family of your residents. The duration of the work party is typically about 2.5 hours.
