Garden Partners asks businesses to support this important work in the community with a contribution of cash, products, in-kind services, and/or volunteer time. Through their generous giving, our business partners add a unique dimension to our ability to reach those most in need.
Our programs have offered residents of long-term care facilities, including Alzheimer’s care, an opportunity to experience what they miss the most — using their hands to work with seeds, soil, and plants; watering and watching them grow; and finally, harvesting vegetables, cutting flowers, and tasting herbs.
Words do not fully describe the results we see when residents experience a renewed sense of well-being, satisfaction in their own abilities, and the joy of working with plants.
Frequently, there is a marked increase in positive interactions between residents, family members and staff, and a decrease in the residents’ levels of stress, anxiety, depression and isolation.
